The year 1960 marked a turning point in Bahrain’s cultural and commercial history. It saw the construction of the Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo Group building, now the Kanoo Museum, the country’s first concrete structure, and the opening of the first dedicated art exhibition space by Abdulkarim Al Arrayedh on Sh. Abdullah Avenue. The exhibition “1960” revisits the early foundations of Bahrain’s modern art movement, highlighting the pioneers who shaped its development. Organised in collaboration with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, it honours the founders and sustains an ongoing cultural dialogue.
