Thuraya Al Baqsami is a pioneering Kuwaiti artist in contemporary Gulf art. An artist, writer, and printmaker, she studied art in Cairo and Moscow. She has held 64 exhibitions worldwide and is a recipient of the State Prize for Literature. Her works unfold through imagined worlds of dreamlike figures, winged fish, and echoes of childhood, with women at their core, embodying strength, hope, and longing. Using symbolism as her central visual language, she weaves layered narratives centred on the human figure, reflecting on identity and the human condition.
