As part of Spring of Culture’s commitment to addressing the needs of the local community and the less privileged, the festival’s Community Programme is held in collaboration with Beyon Al Dana Amphitheatre. This programme organizes workshops for various governmental and social institutions, partnering with entities like the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Social Development, The National Bank of Bahrain Rehabilitation Home for Disabled, and cultural institutes. We kick off this season of the Spring of Culture Community Responsibility Programme with a specialized workshop in speech therapy, led by speech therapist Hussein Al-Sitrawi. This workshop has been organized in collaboration with the National Bank of Bahrain Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled and aims to train caregivers on the fundamentals of speech therapy. Through this programme, they will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve communication abilities for individuals with disabilities, thereby enhancing the quality of care provided and assisting in their development. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MOE), the lineup features a workshop titled “Heritage and Falcon Sculpture Workshop,” presented by Ms. Najat Fazea, this workshop aims to instill values of heritage and root them in the souls of trainees by preserving elements of authentic Bahraini heritage. It will also help participants appreciate aesthetic values in carved wooden works, culminating with the production of sculpted wooden murals of falcons. The workshop “Ceramic Arts”, invites students to get a hands-on experience that allows them to explore the art of pottery and ceramics, focusing on the fundamental techniques of shaping, molding, glazing and more. Also, in collaboration with the MOE, students have the chance to participate in the “Sand Sculpture Symposium” workshop, led by Eman Al Muqahwi. TALENT
Spring of Culture continues its commitment to nurturing the talent of young Bahrainis. Specialized workshops, organized by Beyon Al Dana Amphitheatre. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Spring of Culture Community Responsibility Programme is offering multiple workshops for school students, including “Video Workship & Competition” led by Mohammed Jan Al Balooshi designed to teach participants about video production and related skills, covering areas such as Pre-Production, Production, Post-Production, Storytelling and Direction, and other specialized topics. Moreover, an “Oriental Instruments” workshop led by Mohammed Aseeri, Faisal Al Ansari, Rashid Al Amber, and Fatima Al Sadoon has been organized to teach participants about musical instruments from various cultures in the Middle East. The workshop will include learning to play various instruments, the importance of each instrument and cultural education on the significance of instruments and the music they can produce
EDUCATION
The Spring of Culture Education programme in Bahrain is a testament to the nation’s commitment to fostering creativity and preserving cultural heritage through this year’s exciting lineup, which includes “Filmmaking and Directing” by Mohamed Fakhro, Co-founder of Blu Steel Productions, “Introduction to Product Design” by Maryam Al Khalifa, and “Art and AI” by Jeanne Morel and Paul Marlier. This season aims to offer workshops, lectures, and training opportunities for all students in the Bahraini community in collaboration witheducational institutions, youth centers, and cultural and artistic clubs. The program aims to enrich children’s appreciation for and understanding of art. To this end, we will be hosting a workshop on a 10-meter canvas, inviting both children and families to engage in collaborative printing activities. This event will serve as both a social gathering and an educational art class. Additionally, participants of all ages are encouraged to join the outdoor workshop, where they will have the opportunity to create largescale structures representing local marine fish, using recycled materials such as cardboard and paper. This workshop will be facilitated by artists Jihan Saleh and Juliana Maroto, with the objective of promoting environmental awareness and fostering community connections through artistic expression. Through these diverse offerings, the Spring of Culture initiative seeks to not only enhance individual creative skills but also ensure the continued legacy and appreciation of Bahrain’s rich cultural traditions for generations to come.
